# The Diawi alternative that skips the upload

Stop uploading IPAs by hand. Every successful build gets a share link and QR code automatically — testers install without an account, and CI posts the QR code into every pull request.

More than 1,000 teams build with Capawesome

## Capawesome replaces the manual upload with an automatic share link

Diawi solved a real problem: getting an IPA or APK onto a tester's device without going through the app stores. But it stayed a manual step — build somewhere, download the artifact, upload it to Diawi, copy the link, paste it somewhere. With Capawesome Cloud [Native Builds](/cloud/native-builds/), the share link and QR code exist automatically the moment a build is green, and the GitHub Action posts the QR code straight into your pull request.

Testers view and install without an account, and the same platform handles cloud builds, code signing, OTA Live Updates, and App Store Publishing. One honest caveat: Capawesome Cloud is not a file host — share links come from builds that run on Capawesome Cloud, not from uploaded binaries.

## Key Advantages

 Build sharing without the busywork

Why development teams choose Capawesome over Diawi.

### Share Links, Automatically

Every successful build gets a public share link and QR code the moment it turns green. No download-upload-copy-paste loop, no extra tool.

### QR Codes in Pull Requests

The GitHub Action posts the install QR code into every pull request automatically. Reviewers test the exact build for the exact change.

### No Tester Accounts

Testers, clients, and stakeholders open the share page, scan the QR code, and install — an APK on Android, an over-the-air install on iOS.

### Expiration & Revocation

Add testing instructions, set an expiration, and revoke a link anytime — re-enabling mints a fresh one. Build logs are never exposed.

### CLI-First Automation

Share from any pipeline with `apps:builds:share` or the GitHub Action — the share link and QR code URL come back as outputs.

### A Platform, Not a File Host

Native Builds, code signing, Live Updates, and App Store Publishing in one product. Diawi hosts the file — Capawesome ships the app.

We mainly use over-the-air (OTA) updates to deliver critical bug fixes and updates when waiting on the App Store review process is not an option. After dealing with too much down-time and latency from Capgo, we made the decision to switch to Capawesome Cloud and we couldn't be happier. **Capawesome is more stable and the package delivery speeds are significantly faster**, which makes a big difference at scale. Capawesome's team is extremely responsive and professional - thanks for supplying such a great product guys.

We've been using Capawesome Cloud for CI/CD across our Capacitor apps and couldn't be happier. **Migrating from Appflow was a breeze — we were up and running in no time**, with way less friction than anticipated. The setup was straightforward and the workflow has been rock solid ever since. But what really sets Capawesome apart is the support. The team is incredibly responsive and genuinely helpful. It's great to get that level of personal attention from a SaaS tool. Highly recommend it to any Capacitor team looking to simplify their deployment pipeline.

 Frequently asked questions

Have questions about switching from Diawi to Capawesome? We've answered the most common questions here. For additional support, reach out to us by [Email](mailto:support@capawesome.io) or via [Discord](https://discord.gg/VCXxSVjefW).

Why is Capawesome a good Diawi alternative?

Diawi hosts a binary you built somewhere else — you download the IPA or APK, upload it by hand, and copy the link. With Capawesome Cloud, the share link and QR code exist automatically the moment a [Native Build](/cloud/native-builds/) succeeds, and your CI posts the QR code into the pull request. And it is one platform: the same product handles cloud builds, code signing, OTA Live Updates, and App Store Publishing.

Can I upload an existing IPA or APK to Capawesome Cloud?

No. Capawesome Cloud shares builds that run on Capawesome Cloud — it is not a file host for externally built binaries. If you are building in CI anyway, connect your Git repo or trigger builds from the CLI and the share link comes free with every green build. If all you need is to host a binary built elsewhere, Diawi remains the right tool for that job.

How does build sharing work in Capawesome Cloud?

Every successful build can be shared via a public link and QR code. Testers open the page and install — an APK on Android, an over-the-air install on iOS, a ZIP for web builds. You can add testing instructions, set an expiration, and revoke the link anytime; re-enabling creates a new link, and build logs are never exposed. See the [Share a Build guide](/docs/cloud/native-builds/share-a-build/) for details.

Can I automate build sharing from CI?

Yes. The CLI command `apps:builds:share` creates a share link from any pipeline. The GitHub Action accepts a `share` input and returns `shareWebUrl` and `shareQrCodeUrl` outputs, so the QR code is posted into every pull request automatically. Read our guide on [sharing mobile app builds with testers](/blog/share-mobile-app-builds-with-testers/) for a full walkthrough.

Which devices can install a shared iOS build?

The same Apple platform rule that applies to Diawi: Ad Hoc and Development builds install only on devices whose UDIDs are registered in the provisioning profile, while Enterprise (In-House) builds install on any device of the organization. Our free [iOS UDID Finder](/tools/ios-udid-finder/) helps testers look up their device UDID so you can register it. Android has no such restriction — any device can install a shared APK.

What about Loadly?

Loadly (loadly.io) is a newer upload-based distribution service in the same niche as Diawi, and the same trade-off applies: you still build somewhere else, download the artifact, and upload it by hand. If you want the share link to exist automatically as part of your build pipeline — plus native builds, live updates, and app store publishing in one platform — Capawesome Cloud is the better fit.

Which frameworks does Capawesome Cloud support?

Native Builds and Build Sharing work with Capacitor, Ionic, and Cordova apps as well as native Android (Kotlin/Java) and native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) projects. Live Updates are available for Capacitor, Ionic, and Cordova apps.

## Ready to stop uploading builds by hand?

Native Builds with automatic share links, Live Updates, and App Store Publishing — one platform. 14-day free trial. Cancel anytime.
