`macos-sequoia` and `macos-tahoe`. The Capacitor, Cordova and Ionic CLIs now come pre-installed, more package managers are available out of the box, and Xcode has moved to its latest releases. Here's what changed in the build environment and what it means for your native iOS and Android builds. [ ![Build and deploy your Capacitor app with Capawesome Cloud](https://capawesome.io/assets/banners/cloud-build-and-deploy-capacitor-apps.png?t=1) ](https://capawesome.io/) ## At a Glance[ΒΆ](#at-a-glance "Permanent link") | Change | What's new | | -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | Pre-installed CLIs | Capacitor 8.4.0, Capawesome 4.11.0, Cordova 13.0.0, Ionic 7.2.1, Trapeze 7.1.4 | | Package managers | bun, pnpm (via Corepack), and Yarn now available alongside npm | | Xcode defaults | macos-sequoia now defaults to 26.3, macos-tahoe to 26.5 | | Documented toolchain | Full Android SDK toolchain (API 36, NDK 28) and Ruby 3.3.10 | ## Pre-installed CLIs[ΒΆ](#pre-installed-clis "Permanent link") The CLIs you reach for most are now baked into both build stacks, so they're ready to use without an extra global install step in your pipeline: * Capacitor CLI 8.4.0 * Capawesome CLI 4.11.0 * Cordova CLI 13.0.0 * Ionic CLI 7.2.1 * Trapeze 7.1.4 If your build previously ran `npm install -g @capacitor/cli` or a similar step, you can drop it. The Cordova and Ionic CLIs also make it easier to build hybrid apps that don't rely on Capacitor, which fits well with the [Cordova support we recently added](/blog/announcing-cordova-support-in-capawesome-cloud/). ## More Package Managers[ΒΆ](#more-package-managers "Permanent link") npm is no longer the only option. Each build stack now ships **bun** and **pnpm** (via Corepack) next to **Yarn** and **npm**, so you can keep using whichever package manager your project already depends on without any extra setup. ## Updated Xcode Defaults[ΒΆ](#updated-xcode-defaults "Permanent link") Both build stacks now default to a newer Xcode release: | Build stack | Previous default | New default | | ------------- | ---------------- | ----------- | | macos-sequoia | 26.0.1 | 26.3 | | macos-tahoe | 26.2 | 26.5 | You don't need to do anything to pick these up. If you've pinned a specific version through the [XCODE\_VERSION reserved environment variable](/docs/cloud/native-builds/environment-variables/#reserved-variables), that still works exactly as before, and you can update it whenever you're ready. ## A More Complete Build Stack Reference[ΒΆ](#a-more-complete-build-stack-reference "Permanent link") We've also expanded the [build stacks documentation](/docs/cloud/native-builds/build-stacks/) so you can see exactly what each image provides. The full Android SDK toolchain is now listed, including Build Tools and Platforms up to API level 36, NDK 28, and CMake, along with the pinned Ruby version. There's also a list of additional tools such as Bundler, Carthage, Gradle, SwiftFormat, SwiftLint, xcbeautify, and xcpretty that ship with every build stack. ## Run Into Issues?[ΒΆ](#run-into-issues "Permanent link") These updates are designed to be backwards compatible, so your existing builds should keep working without changes.
