# Capawesome June 2026 Update[¶](#capawesome-june-2026-update "Permanent link")

The Capawesome June update is here! This update includes new features and improvements for [Capawesome Cloud](/docs/cloud/) and our [Plugins](/docs/sdks/capacitor/). Let's take a look at the most important changes.

[ ![Build and deploy your Capacitor app with Capawesome Cloud](https://capawesome.io/assets/banners/cloud-build-and-deploy-capacitor-apps.png?t=1) ](https://capawesome.io/)

## Blog[¶](#blog "Permanent link")

We published several new articles this month. Here are the highlights:

* [What's New in Capacitor 8.4.0](/blog/whats-new-in-capacitor-8-4-0/) — A look at the most useful changes in the latest Capacitor release, including three Android SystemBars fixes, a new `getDouble` config method, and the experimental Swift Package Manager `packageOptions`.
* [Convert Your Lovable App to iOS & Android Apps](/blog/convert-lovable-app-to-mobile-app/) — How to turn a Lovable app into native iOS and Android apps with Capacitor and Capawesome Cloud — build in the cloud without a Mac and ship over-the-air updates.
* [Cordova Live Updates: A Complete Guide to OTA Updates](/blog/cordova-live-updates-guide/) — A long-form guide to Cordova Live Updates: how OTA updates work, update strategies, code signing, best practices, and a real-world end-to-end example.

## Cloud[¶](#cloud "Permanent link")

### Apache Cordova Support[¶](#apache-cordova-support "Permanent link")

This is the big one. [Capawesome Cloud now officially supports Apache Cordova](/blog/announcing-cordova-support-in-capawesome-cloud/). With Ionic Appflow winding down, Cordova teams have been left without a real option for cloud builds and over-the-air updates — so we made Cordova a first-class citizen, not a compatibility checkbox.

That means native iOS and Android builds in the cloud, automated App Store and Google Play submissions, and — the part we're most excited about — over-the-air Live Updates through the brand-new [Cordova Live Update plugin](/docs/sdks/cordova/live-update/). You get the same workflow Capacitor teams already rely on: push a new web build to a channel and your users receive it without waiting on app store review.

If you're on Cordova today, head over to the [announcement post](/blog/announcing-cordova-support-in-capawesome-cloud/) for the full story and a step-by-step guide to get started.

### Build Stacks Refresh[¶](#build-stacks-refresh "Permanent link")

We refreshed both [Capawesome Cloud build stacks](/docs/cloud/native-builds/build-stacks/) used for native iOS and Android builds. The `macos-tahoe` stack now ships with [Xcode 26 and the latest CLIs](/blog/new-clis-and-xcode-26-in-capawesome-build-stacks/), so you can target the newest iOS SDK and take advantage of the latest toolchain without maintaining your own build machines.

You can select the stack per build in your [build configuration](/docs/cloud/native-builds/configuration/), which makes it easy to test a new toolchain on a branch before rolling it out to production.

### API Token Rotation[¶](#api-token-rotation "Permanent link")

API tokens power your CI/CD pipelines and the [Capawesome CLI](/docs/cloud/cli/), so keeping them secure matters. You can now rotate an [API token](/docs/cloud/accounts/tokens/) directly in the [Cloud Console](https://console.cloud.capawesome.io) — generating a fresh secret without deleting and recreating the token or reconfiguring every reference to its ID.

The token secret is now also shown only once, right after it is created. This one-time reveal keeps the secret out of your account after setup, so make sure to copy it into your secret manager straight away.

## Plugins[¶](#plugins "Permanent link")

### Vault[¶](#vault "Permanent link")

We are excited to announce the initial release of the [Capacitor Vault plugin](/docs/sdks/capacitor/vault/)! It provides encrypted, unlock-gated key/value storage — the foundation for password managers, authenticator apps, and app-lock screens. A single biometric or device-passcode unlock keeps the vault open for many reads and writes, instead of prompting on every access.

Call [initialize(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/vault/#initialize) once per session, [unlock(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/vault/#unlock) to prompt the user, then read and write freely with [setValue(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/vault/#setvalue) and `getValue(...)` until the vault locks again:

`[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-0-1)import { Vault, VaultType } from '@capawesome-team/capacitor-vault';
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-0-2)
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-0-3)await Vault.initialize({ type: VaultType.Biometric });
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-0-4)await Vault.unlock();
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-0-5)await Vault.setValue({ key: 'token', value: 'abc123' });
`

It supports multiple independent vaults (via a `vaultId`) with their own keys and lock policies, configurable auto-lock when the app is backgrounded, and hardware-backed encryption (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain, AES-256-GCM). Built-in export and import make it a drop-in alternative to the discontinued Ionic Identity Vault. This is available on Android and iOS, with a `localStorage`\-backed Web implementation for cross-platform development that is not intended for production use.

### SQLite[¶](#sqlite "Permanent link")

The [Capacitor SQLite plugin](/docs/sdks/capacitor/sqlite/) can now load custom SQLite extensions on Android via the new `androidExtensions` option on the [open(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/sqlite/#open) method. This lets you add capabilities SQLite doesn't ship with out of the box — custom FTS5 tokenizers, domain-specific SQL functions, custom collations, and more:

`[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-1-1)import { Sqlite } from '@capawesome-team/capacitor-sqlite';
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-1-2)
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-1-3)const { databaseId } = await Sqlite.open({
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-1-4)  path: 'my-database.db',
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-1-5)  androidExtensions: [{ name: 'my_extension' }],
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-1-6)});
`

Loading extensions requires the bundled SQLite backend on Android. For a complete walkthrough using a custom FTS5 tokenizer as the running example, see our new guide on [how to use custom SQLite extensions with Capacitor](/blog/how-to-use-custom-sqlite-extensions-with-capacitor/).

Error handling also got sharper: the plugin now includes the numeric SQLite result code in `error.data.sqliteCode`, so you can react to specific failures instead of parsing error messages.

### PostHog[¶](#posthog "Permanent link")

The [Capacitor PostHog plugin](/docs/sdks/capacitor/posthog/) added error tracking. Use the new [captureException(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/posthog/#captureexception) method to report caught errors to PostHog, optionally with a stack trace and custom properties:

`[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-2-1)import { Posthog } from '@capawesome/capacitor-posthog';
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-2-2)
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-2-3)try {
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-2-4)  // ...
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-2-5)} catch (error) {
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-2-6)  await Posthog.captureException({ message: error.message, name: error.name });
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-2-7)}
`

You can also opt into automatic reporting with the new `autoCaptureExceptions` configuration option, which forwards unhandled exceptions without any manual `try`/`catch`.

### Firebase[¶](#firebase "Permanent link")

We released [Capacitor Firebase 8.3.0](/blog/capacitor-firebase-8-3-0-release/), with most of the work landing in two plugins.

#### Cloud Firestore[¶](#cloud-firestore "Permanent link")

The [Capacitor Cloud Firestore plugin](/docs/sdks/capacitor/firebase/cloud-firestore/) gained broader data type support across all platforms — including `DocumentReference`, `Bytes`, `NaN`, and `Infinity` — so complex documents round-trip correctly on native and web.

[getCountFromServer(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/firebase/cloud-firestore/#getcountfromserver) now accepts query constraints, letting you count only the documents that match a filter instead of an entire collection:

`[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-1)import { FirebaseFirestore } from '@capacitor-firebase/firestore';
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-2)
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-3)const { count } = await FirebaseFirestore.getCountFromServer({
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-4)  reference: 'users',
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-5)  compositeFilter: {
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-6)    type: 'and',
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-7)    queryConstraints: [
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-8) { type: 'where', fieldPath: 'active', opStr: '==', value: true },
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-9)    ],
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-10)  },
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-3-11)});
`

Snapshot listeners also support a `serverTimestamps` behavior option, giving you control over how pending server timestamps are resolved while a write is in flight.

#### Remote Config[¶](#remote-config "Permanent link")

The [Capacitor Remote Config plugin](/docs/sdks/capacitor/firebase/remote-config/) added two convenience methods. Use [setDefaults(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/firebase/remote-config/#setdefaults) to seed in-app default values before the first fetch, and [getAll()](/docs/sdks/capacitor/firebase/remote-config/#getall) to read every parameter at once:

`[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-4-1)import { FirebaseRemoteConfig } from '@capacitor-firebase/remote-config';
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-4-2)
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-4-3)await FirebaseRemoteConfig.setDefaults({ defaults: { welcome_message: 'Hello' } });
[](#%5F%5Fcodelineno-4-4)const { values } = await FirebaseRemoteConfig.getAll();
`

### Live Update[¶](#live-update "Permanent link")

The [Capacitor Live Update plugin](/docs/sdks/capacitor/live-update/) received backport releases for Capacitor 6 (`6.9.0`) and Capacitor 7 (`7.5.0`), bringing the features from the Capacitor 8 line to older projects. If you can't upgrade to Capacitor 8 yet, you now get the same capabilities — including native channel configuration, the [fetchChannels(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/live-update/#fetchchannels) method, and the [setConfig(...)](/docs/sdks/capacitor/live-update/#setconfig) runtime configuration methods — without changing your major version.

All changes are additive, so your existing setup keeps working. Just bump the plugin to pick up the new methods and events.

## Conclusion[¶](#conclusion "Permanent link")

June was all about reach. [Official Apache Cordova support](/blog/announcing-cordova-support-in-capawesome-cloud/) brought cloud builds, App Store publishing, and Live Updates to Cordova teams, while refreshed build stacks put Xcode 26 at your fingertips. On the plugins side, the brand-new [Capacitor Vault plugin](/docs/sdks/capacitor/vault/) joined feature updates across SQLite, PostHog, and Firebase — plus Live Update backports that carry the latest features all the way back to Capacitor 6.
