Integrations in Capawesome Cloud[¶](#revamped-git-integrations-in-capawesome-cloud "Permanent link") The Git integration in Capawesome Cloud just got its biggest upgrade yet. Git connections now live at the organization level instead of being tied to individual user accounts, GitHub gets a dedicated GitHub App with per-repository access, Gitea and plain Git (HTTP/S) join the list of supported providers, and every provider now offers a simple personal access token flow — including self-hosted and enterprise instances. With this upgrade, OAuth-based Git connections are deprecated: they continue to work until **December 31, 2026**, after which you'll need to switch to the GitHub App or a personal access token. Here's what's new — and how to migrate. [ ![Build and deploy your Capacitor app with Capawesome Cloud](https://capawesome.io/assets/banners/cloud-build-and-deploy-capacitor-apps.png?t=1) ](https://capawesome.io/) This release addresses some of the most frequent feedback we've received: connecting a personal Git account for the whole team felt wrong, OAuth granted broader repository access than many of you were comfortable with, and self-hosted instances were harder to connect than they should be. All of that changes today. One thing up front: this change only affects the credentials used to access your Git repositories. Migrate to the GitHub App or a personal access token before then. * OAuth as a sign-in method for Capawesome Cloud is not affected. ## Organization-Level Git Connections[¶](#organization-level-git-connections "Permanent link") Git connections are now a resource of your organization, not of individual users. The new **Git** page in the organization dashboard lists all Git connections in one place, including their provider, authentication method, status, and which apps use them. ![The new Git Connections page in the Capawesome Cloud Console with the Add Git connection dialog open](/docs/assets/images/posts/20260727_cloud-git-connections.png) Organization owners and admins manage connections for the whole team, and every app in the organization can use them. Previously, each user had to connect their own Git account individually — which meant a colleague's vacation or departure could silently break the team's builds. That problem is gone. Connections can be renamed, their credentials rotated, and safely deleted — with a warning if apps still use them. If something goes wrong, for example a revoked token or a removed GitHub App installation, the connection is flagged as **Broken** and the console guides you through fixing it. ## The New GitHub App Integration[¶](#the-new-github-app-integration "Permanent link") The Capawesome Cloud GitHub App is the new recommended way to connect GitHub repositories. Instead of granting access to everything in your account, you install the app and select exactly which repositories it may access. The app requests minimal permissions: read-only repository contents and metadata. No personal tokens are stored — access uses short-lived installation tokens, and repository selection is managed on GitHub's side, so revoking or extending access is always in your control. If you have an existing GitHub OAuth connection, you can upgrade it in place: edit the connection, choose **GitHub App** as the authentication method, and complete the installation on GitHub. Linked repositories, builds, and automations keep working — no reconfiguration needed. Check out the [GitHub integration documentation](/docs/cloud/integrations/github/) for step-by-step instructions. ## New Providers: Gitea and Git (HTTP/S)[¶](#new-providers-gitea-and-git-https "Permanent link") Two new providers join GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps. With the [Gitea integration](/docs/cloud/integrations/gitea/), you can connect repositories from Gitea Cloud as well as self-hosted Gitea instances — just enter your server URL and a personal access token. The [Git (HTTP/S) integration](/docs/cloud/integrations/git/) goes one step further: it lets you connect any Git server reachable over HTTPS using just a username and password, no major Git provider required. This is ideal if you want to grant the absolute minimum — Capawesome Cloud only gets plain Git access to that one remote, nothing else. One limitation to be aware of: since there are no webhooks, [Automations](/docs/cloud/automations/) are not available for repositories connected this way. ## Personal Access Tokens for Every Provider[¶](#personal-access-tokens-for-every-provider "Permanent link") What used to be marketed as enterprise connectivity is now the standard, simple option for everyone: enter a personal access token, and optionally a server URL for self-hosted or enterprise instances. This flow is available for [GitHub](/docs/cloud/integrations/github/) (including GitHub Enterprise Server), [GitLab](/docs/cloud/integrations/gitlab/) (including self-managed instances), [Bitbucket](/docs/cloud/integrations/bitbucket/) (workspace access token, or Atlassian email plus API token), [Azure DevOps](/docs/cloud/integrations/azure-devops/), and [Gitea](/docs/cloud/integrations/gitea/). Whether you are on the cloud offering or run your own instance, the flow is the same. ## Why We're Moving Away from OAuth[¶](#why-were-moving-away-from-oauth "Permanent link") OAuth-based Git connections are deprecated and will stop working on **December 31, 2026**. Existing OAuth connections were migrated automatically to the new connection model and continue to work until then, so nothing breaks today — but you should switch to the GitHub App (for GitHub) or a personal access token (for all other providers) before the deadline. The deadline aside, there are three good reasons to make the switch now: 1. **More secure.** OAuth required granting Capawesome Cloud access to _all_ repositories of the connected account — public and private. The GitHub App only gets the repositories you explicitly select, and fine-grained personal access tokens can be scoped as narrowly as your provider allows. 2. **More reliable.** OAuth refresh tokens occasionally expired or got invalidated, breaking builds unexpectedly. With personal access tokens, you decide how long a token is valid and can rotate it at any time in the console. The GitHub App needs no tokens from you at all. 3. **Built for teams.** Git access is no longer tied to an individual user's personal account. Connections live at the organization level and are managed by owners and admins, so your builds no longer depend on any single team member. To be clear once more: this only concerns Git credentials. If you sign in to Capawesome Cloud with your GitHub or GitLab account, that continues to work unchanged. ## How to Migrate[¶](#how-to-migrate "Permanent link") Open your organization's **Git** page in the [Capawesome Cloud Console](https://console.cloud.capawesome.io/) and review your connections. Anything using the personal account (OAuth) method must be migrated before **December 31, 2026**: * **GitHub**: Edit the connection and switch the authentication method to **GitHub App**. Complete the installation on GitHub, and you are done — everything is preserved. * **All other providers**: Edit the connection and switch to a **personal access token**.
