title: Integrate Capawesome Insiders with Artifactory
description: Proxy the private Capawesome Insiders npm registry through JFrog Artifactory. Configure a remote npm repository with your license key as the password.

# JFrog Artifactory

You can proxy the private Capawesome npm packages through [JFrog Artifactory](https://jfrog.com/artifactory/){:target="_blank"} so that developers and build agents install them from your Artifactory instance instead of the Capawesome npm registry.
This guide shows you how to set up a remote npm repository that authenticates against the Capawesome npm registry with your license key.

## Preparation

### Get your license key

[Get your license key](../faq.md#where-can-i-find-my-license-key). Artifactory stores it as the password of the remote repository.

???+ warning "Keep your license key secure"

    Restrict the remote repository settings to Artifactory administrators. Developers authenticate against Artifactory with their own credentials and never need the license key.

## Artifactory Configuration

### Create a remote npm repository

Create a new remote repository with the package type `npm` as described in [Remote Repositories](https://docs.jfrog.com/artifactory/docs/remote-repositories){:target="_blank"} and use the following settings:

| Setting                 | Value                                    |
| ----------------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| URL                     | `https://npm.registry.capawesome.io`     |
| Username                | Any value, for example `capawesome`      |
| Password / Access Token | Your license key |

The Capawesome npm registry ignores the username and verifies the password as the license key. You can also add the remote repository to a virtual npm repository if your developers install all packages from a single URL.

## Client Configuration

### Configure the npm registry

Point the `@capawesome-team` scope to the remote or virtual repository in your project's `.npmrc` file:

```ini
@capawesome-team:registry=https://<your-artifactory-host>/artifactory/api/npm/<repository-key>/
```

Authenticate the npm client against Artifactory with your Artifactory credentials as described in [npm Registry](https://docs.jfrog.com/artifactory/docs/npm-registry){:target="_blank"}. The Capawesome license key stays in Artifactory.

## Other Proxy Registries

Sonatype Nexus Repository and other proxy registries that only support a username and password for upstream registries work the same way. Enter any username and your license key as the password.
