Insiders¶

Capawesome follows the sponsorware release strategy, that enables developers to be compensated for their open-source work with fewer downsides than traditional open-source funding models. This means that new plugins are first exclusively released to sponsors as part of Insiders.

What is Insiders?¶

As an Insider, you get access to a private npm registry that contains all sponsorware plugins.

Every plugin is tied to a funding goal in monthly subscriptions. When a funding goal is hit, the plugins that are tied to it are released for general availability, making them available to all users.

What's in it for me?¶

The moment you become an insider, you'll get immediate access to additional plugins that you can start using right away, and which are currently exclusively available to sponsors:

How to become an Insider¶

Thanks for your interest in sponsoring! It's a great way to support the development of Capawesome and get access to exclusive plugins. In order to become an Insider, you need to subscribe to one of the following plans:

Funding¶

Goals¶

The following section lists all funding goals. Each goal contains a list of plugins prefixed with a checkmark symbol, denoting whether a plugin is already available or planned, but not yet implemented. When the funding goal is hit, the plugins are released for general availability.

Goals completed¶

This section lists all funding goals that were previously completed, which means that those features were part of Insiders, but are now generally available and can be used by all users.

TL;DR: You are allowed to use the software for your commercial or non-commercial projects (depending on your subscription) but you are NOT allowed to publish or sell the software or any derived products.

Access¶

Where can I find my license key?¶

To find your license key, follow these steps:

Navigate to the Subscriptions page on Polar, search for Capawesome and click on View Benefits.
Copy the license key from the Benefits section.

That's it! You can now use the license key to access the private npm registry. Please note that the license key is tied to your subscription and should NOT be shared with external parties.

Polar provides each sponsor with only one license key. We therefore recommend that teams sponsor Capawesome using a single team account and share the license key among the team members. However, it's NOT allowed to share the license key with external parties.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?¶

If you cancel your subscription, you will lose access to the private npm registry and the plugins that are part of Insiders. However, you may use the latest version that's available to you as long as you like.

How can I cancel my subscription?¶

You can cancel your subscription at any time by visiting the Subscriptions page on Polar and clicking the "Unsubscribe" button next to the subscription you want to cancel.
